Not only are they somewhat intrusive and exhausting, but they may also put more diverse employees at a disadvantage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"hrrev-in-post hrrev-target\" id=\"hrrev-2035531294\" data-hrrev-trackid=\"136738\" data-hrrev-trackbid=\"1\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-9675847177561-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>For instance, not only do you have to manage your personal appearance in <\/span><span>video<\/span><span> meetings (much like in real life), but now colleagues have a peek into your home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Videocalls<\/span><span> assume you have a designated meeting space within your dwelling \u2013 extra square footage to spare with a work-appropriate background. Something that may not be the case for all employees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Video<\/span> <span>calls<\/span><span> are lauded for their ability to \u201cconnect the team\u201d and generate \u201cculture,\u201d \u2013 but who are they really benefitting?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Not everyone feels included\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>With more and more businesses turning to hybrid working models, hybrid meetings are becoming more the norm and less the exception.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>With this increase, more employees, especially those dialling in, have come face to face with the reality that most meetings are not planned with them in mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A staggering 43 percent of remote workers do not feel included in meetings, while only 27 percent of companies have implemented hybrid meeting etiquette to accommodate everyone.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What solutions are there to video meeting fatigue?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span>Spotvirtual believes virtual offices in the metaverse may be the solution to <\/span><span>video<\/span><span> call mania.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"https:\/\/hrreview.co.uk\/hr-news\/strategy-news\/73-of-uk-professionals-distracted-by-virtual-meetings\/375953\">Virtual<\/a> offices give companies the sense of corporate culture they seek (creating a personalised, branded presence, seeing who else is around, and even the ability to pop by \u201cdeskside\u201d for a quick chat if both parties agree) while also respecting that workers may want to portray themselves differently than their physical form.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>By utilising self-created avatars within meetings, employees can switch up their appearance, swapping clothing, expressions, hairstyles \u2013 and even genders \u2013 at will.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Spot creators (and former unicorn Outreach founders) Gorden Hempton and Wes Hather believe that this method of corporate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cipd.org\/uk\/knowledge\/reports\/cross-functional-collaboration\/\">collaboration<\/a> allows everyone to come to work as their \u201creal selves\u201d without being trapped by physical form or current dwellings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- MOLONGUI AUTHORSHIP PLUGIN 4.9.5 --><br \/>\n<!-- https:\/\/www.molongui.com\/wordpress-plugin-post-authors --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent survey from WebEx showed that 95 percent of workers are experiencing video meeting fatigue.\u00a0 Yet, they\u00a0continue on.
