HBR: Are you really listening?

Senior leaders are often responsible for the ongoing continuity of their business, and they generally have access to more lines of communication than anyone else – so why do problems sometimes go amiss? Sometimes, this information that flows to them can be suspect and compromised, with key facts omitted by third parties and warning signs dampened down. This often causes major issues later down the line, with leaders often left thinking ‘where did that come from?’ when an employee raises a concern about their colleague or about the wider business environment.

There is a way, though, to stop this from happening – and it’s not utilised enough by business leaders. This article in HBR details the solution for business leaders as building a “listening ecosystem” and being able to escape the noise bubble.
