INTOO in HR Now: Outplacement support in higher education

University professionals discussing outplacement support during higher education workforce change.

INTOO UK and Ireland featured in HR Now in an article exploring the growing importance of outplacement support in higher education as universities navigate redundancies, course closures and wider workforce change.

The article reported that INTOO has seen a five-fold increase in enquiries from higher education institutions, suggesting universities are placing greater emphasis on supporting employees through restructuring.

Owen Morgan, Managing Director of INTOO UK and Ireland, explained that providing effective support is important not only for departing employees, but also for staff morale, organisational reputation, future recruitment and the student experience.

“Handled well, career transition support gives people practical steps to rebuild confidence and allows affected staff to move onto new roles quicker,” said Owen Morgan.

He also highlighted the risks of poor communication, limited support and rushed redundancy processes, which can damage trust and negatively affect an institution’s employer brand.

The article referenced INTOO’s Future World of Work Report 2026, which found that 74% of the HR leaders and managers surveyed considered externally provided career support valuable.
